Shelestyuk: "It looks like the Russian church has brainwashed Lomachenko"
May 6, 2024, 1:45 p.m.

Famous Ukrainian boxing veteran Taras Shelestyuk, following Oleksandr Hvozdyk, condemned former world champion in three weight categories compatriot Vasyl Lomachenko, who never made a single coherent statement regarding the criminal invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Federation.

"I am doing my best, although I have much less influence than Lomachenko. I don't know why Vasyl doesn't want to support Ukraine more actively. It's hard to understand him.

I think he's been brainwashed. Lomachenko should study the history of Ukraine. It seems to me that since he has been boxing since he was a kid, he hasn't studied. It's easy to manipulate people who have no knowledge of history. The Russian church seems to be doing that to him. I think he needs to study the history of Ukraine, and then he will understand what is happening and why Ukraine is an independent and separate country from Russia," The Sunday Long Read quotes Shelestyuk as saying.

Recall that on May 12 in Perth, Australia, Lomachenko will fight for the vacant IBF lightweight title with George Kambososos.

"A lot of people don't like him anymore." Gvozdik sharply criticized Lomachenko
May 6, 2024, 9:22 a.m.

Former world light heavyweight champion Ukrainian Oleksandr Gvozdyk spoke out about the lack of civic position of prominent compatriot Vasyl Lomachenko.

"If someone is trying to make Lomachenko look like a Ukrainian hero, tell them, let them talk to Ukrainian coaches and fighters. They will give you a completely opposite opinion. Top Rank is probably trying to make it look like Lomachenko is supporting his country.

Today we have this bastard [Putin] who is killing and trying to destroy my country. After this war started, there is more bombing going on. People are under the rubble. People are bleeding, with limbs torn off. I don't support that. Because of this, many people do not like him anymore," - quotes Gvozdik The Sunday Long Read.

Recall that on May 12 in Perth, Australia, Lomachenko will fight for the vacant IBF lightweight title with George Kambososos.

The Briton and the Ukrainian will determine the first since 1999 absolute champion in the heavyweight division on May 18 in Yar Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

"Oleksandr Usyk is a real villain. He can only be underestimated by a fool. That's why I'm training hard and doing my best. I respect Usik and his career. I'm looking forward to the fight.

He works well with his feet, he has great boxing skills, technique. He's proven he can fight big heavyweights with wins over Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois. This is an elite fighter," Fury said in an interview with Frank Warren's Queensberry Promotions YouTube channel.

Warren: "Fury is very smart - he will beat Usik at his own game"
May 4, 2024, 4:21 a.m.

Renowned promoter Frank Warren, who promotes the career of Tyson Fury, explained why he has no doubts about his client's victory in the upcoming fight for the title of absolute world champion in the heavyweight division against Oleksandr Usyk.

"A few years ago, when Fury fought Klitschko, it was pure boxing. Tyson came out and gave him a boxing lesson in his second homeland. After his second fight with Wilder, he changed his style, now he comes forward and throws punches. He has shown that he is a good puncher.

I think that's what will happen to Usik. He's going to beat him at his own game. Because he is very, very smart," - quotes Warren Sky Sports.

Recall that the British and Ukrainian will fight on May 18 in Riyadh.

Bellew: "Usik will beat Fury on points".
May 2, 2024, 2:05 p.m.

Former world heavyweight champion Tony Bellew explained why he does not doubt the victory of Oleksandr Usyk in the upcoming fight for all the belts in the super heavyweight division against Tyson Fury.

The Ukrainian and the Briton will fight on May 18 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

"Usik will win on points - 100%. I thought Anthony Joshua would beat him in the first fight, so I'm not saying that because I lost to him. Against which style is Fury's most difficult? Against a fighter on the back foot. Usik wants you to attack him. He makes you look like a complete fool. Alexander will leave Tyson Fury no choice but to attack him as he will create an advantage early in the fight and Tyson Fury will chase the ghost.

Fury will not run after Usik like a madman, as this will play into Usik's hands. But at moments Tyson will have to press, and in this he will fail," - quotes Bellew Eurosport.

Garcia explained why he will be rooting for Usik in the Fury fight
May 1, 2024, 6:20 a.m.

Anthony Joshua's ex-trainer Robert Garcia said he will support former British rival Oleksandr Usyk in an absolute world heavyweight title fight against Tyson Fury.

"I want to see Usik become the absolute champion and maybe retire from boxing after that. He has accomplished a lot in boxing, fought some great fighters. If Usik beats Fury, he will be one of the greatest super heavyweights in history. I'd love to see the really small guy accomplish that.

Also, I was very pleased with how Fury performed against Francis Ngannou. I think he just disrespected boxing, didn't care what people might think or say about him. I don't think he prepared for this fight and that's disrespectful to boxing because everybody takes the sport seriously. Everybody should take it seriously. It's a serious sport, people can die in the ring. So I would like to see Usik win," Garcia said in an interview with FightHype YouTube channel.

Recall that the fight Usik - Fury will be held on May 18 in Saudi Arabia.

Beterbiev gave advice to Fury for his fight with Usik
May 1, 2024, 3:38 a.m.

WBC, WBO and IBF light heavyweight champion Artur Beterbiev believes that Tyson Fury should periodically attack Oleksandr Usyk's torso in the upcoming fight for all the belts in the super heavyweight division, as it is this place, in his opinion, is the main weakness of the Ukrainian.

"Usik's Achilles heel is the torso? I think it is. Does Fury have to target the body? Not so much to aim straight out. But sometimes you need to punch there too," Beterbiev told Queensberry Promotions.

Recall that Usik and Fury were to fight on February 17 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, but the fight was canceled because of the British received a dissection during training. Now the boxers are scheduled to meet on May 18 there.
