Thurman backed Tszyu after his defeat to Fundore

Former world welterweight champion Keith Thurman has spoken to Tim Tszyu after his loss to Sebastian Fundora.

The Australian lost to the American by split decision last weekend on Boxing Night in Las Vegas, USA, and lost his WBO bantamweight title. The vacant WBC belt was also at stake in the encounter.

"Congratulations to 'Hell's Tower' (Fundora's nickname - ed.). And respect to Tim Tszyu. You were supposed to fight me, but you agreed to be a substitute. Styles make fights, and it was a challenge for you.

You had to endure a bloodbath. You showed courage and showed how tough you are, we knew you were a world class fighter. Hold your head up high. If I were you, I would seek a rematch," Thurman wrote in X.

Recall that initially with Tszyu was supposed to fight Thurman, but the American dropped out due to health problems.
