GGG: It’s a very interesting situation. He’s a resident of Brooklyn but I’m a resident of Manhattan. Madison (Square Garden) is my home.

Groupe Yvon Michel (GYM) president Yvon Michel has responded accordingly to allegations recently made in the media by Sullivan Barrera about GYM and its undefeated world light heavyweight contender Artur Beterbiev regarding the recently cancelled Beterbiev-Barrera International Boxing Federation (IBF) light heavyweight title eliminator.
A Message to Artur Beterbiev from Team Sullivan Barrera: Artur, You decided to go to the internet and social media as you have tried to do in the past and paint your own picture of the IBF eliminator bout between yourself and Sullivan Barrera. Maybe your propaganda works in Russia and in Canada but not in the United States. The fact is this fight was doomed to fail from the beginning and you can only look to your fake promoter for reasons and excuses.
Created by Caleb O'Connor, the lifesize model of WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder will stand in front of the YCMA in Tuscaloosa, Alabama and be a reminder of the title holder's run at the top.
Canelo Alvarez was surrounded by the legend that is Julio Cesar Chavez for a four-stop media obligation promoting the May 6 clash with his former WBC title holding son at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Chavez is a hero for Canelo, although that respect will go out of the window for the duration of his catchweight bout with Chavez Jr. as the 26 year-old bids to be classed as the best fighter from their home country.

A clash of bib-punching middleweight contenders that figured to be an all-out war, turned out to be all that and more. Former IBF world champion David Lemieux (37-3, 33 KOs) scored a spectacular third round KO over Curtis “The Cerebral Assassin” Stevens (29-6, 21 KOs) on Saturday night at the Turning Stone Resort & Casino in Verona, NY. Both traded bombs the entire way and both had their moments. Lemieux ended matters with a crushing left hook in round three that put Stevens on the deck out cold. Time was 1:59.
Former three-division world champion Yuriorkis “El Ciclon de Guantánamo”Gamboa (26-1, 17 KOs), newly signed by Golden Boy Promotions, scored a ten round unanimous decision over Rene “Gemelo” Alvarado (24-8, 16 KOs) on Saturday night at the Turning Stone Resort & Casino in Verona, NY. A rusty Gamboa was in command most of the time, although he never had Alvarado in any sewrious trouble. In fact, the only knockdown of the fight was a flash knockdown scored by Alvarado in the final stanza. Scores were 97-92, 97-92, 97-93.
Unbeaten super welterweight Demetrius Andrade (24-0, 16 KOs) is a world champion again. Andrade edged reigning WBA super welterweight titleholder “Golden” Jack Culcay (22-2, 11 KOs) by twelve round split decision on Saturday night at the Friedrich-Ebert Halle in Ludwigshafen, Germany. The much taller Andrade, a prohibitive favorite, compiled a lead then withstood a round twelve Culcay barrage. Scores were 116-112, 116-112 Andrade, 115-113 Culcay.
