Carl Froch went hard on Ryan Garcia's failed drug test

Carl Froch expressed his disappointment and anger at fellow boxer Ryan Garcia, who failed drug tests related to his April 20 fight against Devin Haney. Froch stated on his podcast, "I'm genuinely angry." This incident has stirred significant controversy in the boxing community given Garcia's exceptional performance during the fight.

Leading up to the bout, Ryan Garcia displayed peculiar behavior including making unfounded accusations about ticket pricing and questioning Haney’s motivations. He also consumed alcohol during the official weigh-in and admitted to smoking and drinking throughout the training period. Despite these distractions, Garcia showcased a superb performance in the ring, knocking down Haney three times aided by a potent lead left hook.

However, subsequent drug tests revealed that Garcia failed both pre and post-fight screenings. The boxer has since proclaimed his innocence, suggesting potential unintentional contamination causes like supplements or accidental ingestion. Carl Froch discussed these issues on his "Froch on Fighting" podcast, voicing skepticism toward any claims of being framed due to his doubts about manipulating VADA testing processes.

Drawing parallels between Garcia’s situation and a similar case involving Conor Benn, Froch emphasized the need for a clear demonstration of innocence from Garcia if he hopes to continue his career without a permanent blemish. Conor Benn had previously undergone a process to prove he was not at fault after similar accusations.

Currently, Ryan Garcia remains firm in asserting that he is not guilty while grappling with impending consequences that could include a ban from boxing. Promoter Eddie Hearn disclosed that Haney is keen on ensuring that appropriate actions are taken against Garcia for these infractions.
