Merhi inflicted Yoka's third defeat in a row

On Saturday evening at the Roland Stadium in Paris, the former WBA cruiserweight champion Riad Merhi (32-2, 26 KOs) won a unanimous decision over the 2016 Olympic champion in heavyweight division Tony Yokoi (11-3, 9 KOs).

Yoka tried to fight at the distance of his jab, but the enemy moved forward aggressively and from time to time broke into close range to deliver power blows. Yoki's striking power diminished as the fight progressed, and Merhi eventually emerged victorious, 96-94, three times. Thus, Yoka earned his third defeat in a row, and Merhi returned to the game after losing to Kevin Lerena.
